Best Sri Lankan Chicken Curry Recipe (Authentic & Spicy)
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken (cut into pieces)
- 2 onions (sliced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
- 2 tbsp Sri Lankan roasted curry powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 cup thick coconut milk
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Base
Heat oil in a pan. Add onions, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, and cinnamon. Sauté until golden brown.
Step 2: Add Spices
Add turmeric, chili powder, and roasted curry powder. Stir for 1 minute to release aroma.
Step 3: Cook the Chicken
Add chicken pieces and mix well with spices. Cook for 5–7 minutes.
Step 4: Add Coconut Milk
Pour in coconut milk and simmer for 25–30 minutes until chicken is tender and gravy thickens.
Serving Suggestions
